🛒 Cart Abandonment

Send timely reminders or persuasive offers to re-engage customers and reduce cart abandonment.

Understanding cart abandonment is crucial for e-commerce businesses seeking to enhance conversion rates and maximize revenue. By identifying the reasons behind abandoned carts and implementing strategic interventions, businesses can effectively reduce abandonment rates and increase sales.

Here's what you can expect to find in this tutorial:

  • Abandoned Cart Recovery : Discover how to set up automated flows to remind customers about their abandoned carts. We'll walk you through the process of configuring this flow to be effective in enticing customers back to complete their purchases while maintaining the tone and branding of your business.

Prerequisites

Before getting started make sure you have the following to start with the building journey:

  1. Salla connector - For more information visit this link
  2. WhatsApp template created - For more information on creating WhatsApp templates visit this link
    1. You will need to create an abandoned cart template with an enticing message for your customers to complete their purchase and recover their abandoned cart
    2. Include a "Call to Action" button so that you add the URL for the customer's abandoned cart when sending out the WhatsApp message

Cart Abandonment Recovery Flow

After Salla is connected and the WhatsApp template is created, we go to Flow Studio:

  1. Go to Flow Studio and click Create New Flow
  2. Select Integration as an entry point
  3. In Flow Builder select Integration Trigger:
    1. Select your Application name (ex: Salla) and Connection name
    2. Select Trigger to be Abandoned Cart
    3. In the Output Fields type cart in the search bar, then select the below variables (This will retrieve the required variables from Salla to check on the age of the cart and personalize the communication with the customer with their name, mobile and cart link):
      1. From Customer - Mobile _and _Name
      2. From updated_at - age_in_minutes and checkout_url
      3. Notice the 4 variables created in the Variables section in the top right side of the screen
  4. Add a branch widget, in which you will define the age in minutes of the cart after which you will send a WhatsApp notification to your customer as per the below:
    1. In the Name of the variable field add the cart_data_age_in_minutes variable
    2. For Branch 1 defined the condition if the cart's age is greater _than _90 minutes to send a WhatsApp message
    3. For the Else condition choose End
    4. Click Save Branch
  5. Now click on the WhatsApp Message to configure its parameters:
    1. Choose your Application ID
    2. In Destination Number type brackets ” {{ “, then it will show all the variables of the flow, and select the one that carries the phone number from Salla {{cart_data_customer_mobile}}
    3. Choose your Message Template; in this example it's abandoned_cart
    4. Set your Message Variable; in this example we have two: {{cartdata_customer_name}} and the {{cartdata_checkout_url}} for the template button
    5. Click Save
  6. Then click on save draft, and finally publish the flow. 🎉
